  1. Marriages usually take place in this district during Shrove. There are many superstitions regarding marriage:-
    "Marry when the year is new,
    Always loving, kind and true."
    When the February birds do mate
    You may wed, nor dread your fate.
    Marry when the March winds blow
    Joy and sorrow both you'll know.
    Marry in April if you can
    Joy for maiden and for man.
    An unlucky marriage in June is as rare as a black swan.
    The sheaf bound in the harvest will be unbound in Spring.
