  1. My grandfather's landlord was Mr. Longfield of Mallow. His descendants live there yet. He was a good landlord, and my mother says that she never heard of his evicting anyone around here.
    Grandfather's rent was collected for the landlord by Matt Daly, in money. The rents were about five times as much as they are now, but the collections were peaceful in this district. My mother remembered when all the tenants went to Kanturk, in the Land League and got a reduction of five shillings on their rents.
