Acres of potatoes, mangolds, and sweeds were all swept by the roaring floods. Fields of late saved hay and early stooked corn were all swept to the seep sea.
Such was the effect of that awful night on the crops but I have not touched on the effect it had on the people. It is enough to say that those who lived through that thunder storm will never forget it.
- It was the great thunder storm of August 1898. It started at eleven o'clock, and lasted until morning.
