- There was more superstition dealing with butter-making than with any other domestic work in the olden days. May-morning was the most usual time for performing witch-craft on this work. Wicked neighbours particularly women often cursed their neighbours dairy produce.
The junction of three rivers or streams was a favourite and successful place by those witches for performing their spells. The following is a true story of such an incident which occurred in this district some years ago.
