- In olden times blacksmiths had harder lives than they have nowadays as they got very little work to do and were very poor.
The neighbours had to support them, as every cow they killed, it was a custom to give the blacksmith her head. There was also a cure for warts in the water in which the blacksmith cooled the red irons.
The local blacksmith was John Ford who lived in a little house adjoining the forge. He worked very hard shoeing horses and making gates and repairing ploughs and all iron instruments.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
