  1. Murty Óg was born at Cualagh in the eighteenth centuary. When he was very young his parents died a a woman in Dursey island took him to her house and reared him. When he was about eighteen years he left Dursey and went to Spain where he joined the Irish Brigade. After some time he came back to Ireland. He started smuggling. He used to bring wool and men to Spain and and he used to bring back wine and tobacco.
    Once while he was at home he met Puley on his way to Castletown and Puley was against smuggling Murty shot him. Then he had to run from the English. He still carried on smuggling. He had a house in Eyeriesbeag and a servant named Donal Ó Conaill.
    Once he came home from Spain and he stayed in the house for a few days. The English heard that he was there and came there across the hill from Dunboy. A friend of Murty was with the English and he fired a shot when he came near the house. The English shot him for doing this. They came to the house and
