The cuckoo is a bird which comes to my district each year and when she comes she builds no nest at all but hunts out another bird out of her nest and lays her egg there. My mother said she always heard that the cuckoo changes and turns into a hawk after a term been here.
There is a tale about the robin that when Our Lord was suffering on the cross and when the thorns were in his head the little robin tried to pull one out and in doing so a drop of blood fell on his breast and he has a red breast since. We should like the robin because he was kind to God.- Bailitheoir
