  1. I lay my body down to sleep
    and pray to god my soul to keep
    and if I die before I wake
    I pray to god my soul to take.
    There are four corners on my bed
    There are four Angels over head.
    Matthew, Mark, Luke and John
    God bless me and the bed I lie on.
    Every hour the clock strikes the following pray is supposed to be said.
    Another hour of my life is past
    My Jesus remember me in my fast
    When you are lighting anything the prayer to say is:
    The light of Heaven to our souls
    and eternal rest to the souls of the faithful departed.
    O good Jesus I must die
    I do not know when how or where
    But if I die in mortal sin, I am lost forever
    O Good Jesus have mercy on me
    This prayer is also to be said when
