The Flag on Fairymount Hill.
Simon Hanley was the head of the fairies and in olden days there was a certain flag or stone on the top of Fairymount in the parish of Kilgeffin and any person who wanted money if he went as far as that flag and if he asked it in Simon's name he would get it but he should say he would have it back again on a certain day and he should have it beck on that day.

There was a man coming from the fair of of Roscommon on the first of March and it was a very hard cold night and as he was crossing the hill of Fairymount he said, "Ah, I once had a friend here who would shelter me" and, sooner had he the words said when a home-made over-coat of good frieze was wrapped around him.
