    Rev. Corelius Dowling P.P. who is buried in St. Michal's Church, Timahoe...

    Rev. Corelius Dowling P.P. who is buried in St. Michal's Church, Timahoe, and to whom a tablet is erected died 5 Dec 1860. He composed poetry. The following verses were told me by my father who had them from Ed. Whelan, Garryglass, Timahoe.
    "Pity the poor when in distress
    Relieve them if you can
    It's a passing obligation
    That God has laid on man."
    "Let the morning peep rise you from sleep;
    To your Creator pray
    And like a soul that made for God
    Begin and end the day.

    My grandfather, James Ramsbottom, Esker, Timahoe, told me that when he used to go out to look after the sheep he would gather the wool that would be tangled in the bushes. He would bring the wool to Mrs Carry, Ballinclough, Timahoe and she would weve it into thread and have a pair of stockings knitted for him in a week.
