- The Dead Man.Some years ago a man hanged himself in Martinstown from a tree. One day a girl was in the wood gathering sticks and when she rose up she hit her head against his feet. The mark of the rope is on the tree and the mark where he hit has toes against the tree. The side of the tree on which he hanged himself never bloomed since.
