  1. On Birds.
    As County Kildare is a very boggy place, there are all kinds of wild birds to be seen here. Long ago birds were more numerous. The people in those times killed those birds and sold them. The names of a number of those birds are :- Wild ducks, wild geese, partridge's and wood quests. Many of those birds build their nests in the heather and furze bushes. They laid their eggs and when the young ones were hatched the people set traps and caught the young birds. The cages were put outside the door and the mothers came to the cage and fed them.
