- (continued from previous page)weddings to drive one side cars, sometimes as many as ten and even twenty. When the wedding party would be coming back home in the evening a party of the local boys would gallop on horse bask to meet the bride with a bottle of whiskey. They would drive the the horses as fast as they could go and try to be first. The first to meet the wedding would give the bridegroom a drink from the bottle.He would then throw the bottle and try to break it, if it did not break it was counted unlucky.
It is counted unlucky to get married in May also on the thirteenth of any month of the year. But marry when December's snow falls fast always joy and true love will last.
- Our farm is situated in the townland of Fincarn and Lackafin. Fincarn means Finns grave and Lackafin means the tumb-stones of Finn. Ther are four of our fields in in the in the townland of Lackafin. Thir names are "the field at(continues on next page)
