- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)to attack Columcille. As they passed by the well a slightly lame man missed his footing and fell into the water. At once he was cured of his lameness. On seeing this the people repented and turned to Columcille.
Once the saint was in need of water, so he prayed. Instantly the well sprung up.
As far as the present inhabitants of Thomastown can remember, no cures have been evident in later times. The well is not specially recommended for any disease. Relics are not left at the well. No fish live in it. It is overshadowed by the branches of a tree. No one ever tried to drain the well.- Bailitheoir
