Hidden TreasureThe treasure supposed to be hid in Ballyroddy is in Mr McDonnell's field, to the west of Ballyroddy school and about five or six hundred yards distant from the school. I never heard who placed the treasure there or why it was placed there. It is supposed to consist of a pot of gold. There is no account of anyone trying to unearth it, but some person long ago had a dream that three people would have to go together to get it, when the eel who is supposed to be guarding it, was at Mass in Ballyroddy Chapel. The eel came to Mass in three springs and left the Chapel before the Elevation. A life had to be lost in trying to get the treasure. (so the dream went)
