Ar an leathanach seo

  1. A man named Counihan who lived in Lough fonder, Knocknagoshel, was in Tralee one day on business. He called into a restaurant and asked for a "plain tea". The tea consisted of the usual bread and butter but, being in a hurry, he only took one cup of tea and a slice or two of bread. The bread was cut into slices so that you could easily see through them, and the butter was served in little marble-shaped lumps, known locally as "buttons". Feeling a bit disappointed, he arose from the table after a very short meal, and approached the landlady.
    "Well, ma'am", he asked, "What's' going to you for the cup of tea and bit of bread?"
    "Two shillings", was the reply.
    "Two shillings, for one cup of tea and a few bites of bread!" said our friend, in amazement.
    "Exactly," the landlady replied, "I charge everybody two shillings for tea, no matter what amount they eat."
    "Very well," remarked Counihan, as he left the restaurant.
    He rambled about the street until he met his friend Roger Geaney, also of Loughfouder, who accompanied him to Tralee on that day. Counihan asked Geaney if he would care to eat
