   When people throw out water at night they usually say -"cugat chugat" - to warn the fairies. I myself have heard Mrs Casey Clooncunny (deceased - 1935) say it time + time again. She also said that it was right to sweep the floor and leave the house "readed" at night for the fairies: It was considered unlucky to meet a red-haired woman especially if going to a fair. People would turn back again. It was considered very unlucky if a woman went into a home without being "chucked" after
