    Water would not boil
The Dukes - a protestant family who lived near the Holy venerated Well from a profane motive sent their servant for water to cook the men's dinner but neither meat nor vegetables ever cooked as the water would not boil

Mr Gaffney, Deerpark, Branchfield lived near the Holy Well and immediately before his death he asked for a drink of "holy" water from the well. It is said that if water were brought from various wells and given to him to taste he could tell at once which was the "HOLY water"

    Impressions on slabs
A stone slab near the well is believed to show the knee marks of St Patrick who crossed the ramparts at Ballinacarrow to visit the well. The natives say that St Brigid also visited the well.
