Ar an leathanach seo

  1. The name of my home district is Carransprawn, parish of Taunagh, and barony of Tirerrill. There are twelve families in the townland. There are about thirty people in the townland.
    McDonagh is the family name most common in the district. Some of the houses are thatched, but the majority of them are slated.
    Carransprawn derived its name from a purse of gold which is hidden in it. There are five people over seventy living in the district. They do not know Irish. They cannot tell stories. Houses were more numerous locally in former times. There are no rins of these houses to be seen. Some of the people emigrated to America. The townland is not mentioned in any song or say.
    The land is very hilly, boggy and good. There are no woods growing in the townland.
