Bullfinches are common birds and fairly numerous. They arevery pretty, with their feithers arranged on their heads like black caps Gardeners do not like them as they destroy fruit trees by eating the young fruit seed and buds.
The bullfinch's nest is made if interwoven sticks lined with hair and roots well concealed in bush, holly or yew.
It lays from four to six eggs in May. Sometimes they have a second brood. Both birds sing a soft mellow song in Summer and Winter.
Both young and old stay together in Winter.
