- There is an old fort in this district called Cashel. It is very high with a stone wall all around it and there is a big rock in the middle of it.Once the fairies left a bag of gold under this rock and a man in Ballymote saw them do it in a dream.He and his brother came down the next day and got the bag of gold.When the man who owns the field goes ploughing he never touches the fort for fear the fairies would bring bad luck to his crops.
