- The local fairs are held in Sligo, Balisodare and Leoblooney. Fairs are nearly always held in Towns.
Buyers often bought farm-animals at cross-roads and famr houses and it still occurs.
There are no fairs held in this district now.
Most of the town fairs are held in special fields and some fairs are held in the streets.
There is toll paid at fairs still to pay the rent and rates of the field where the fair is held. It is paid to the men who stand at the gate.
When animals are sold three or four shillings is given tot he buyer as luck money. When a bargain is made the buyer and seller show they are atisfied by striking hands and on other occasions by spitting. Sometimes when a local person buy an animal they mark it with mud.
Other times they are marked with raddle or by clipping the hair on the side(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
