   a woman went in to pray before the alter after her day's work was over. It appears that she was very tired and while saying her prayers that the mchination(?) for sleep overcame her. She succumbed and as a result the church was locked without the caretaker seeing her.

   After some time this woman was awakened and looking up saw the alter lighted up. She saw a robed priest come out and then towards her. The priest asked if there was anyone there to serve mass. No one answered and then something prompted the woman to say that she could although she never did so before. She was asked to come up. She did so and served the mass. When the mass was over the priest thanked her and said that he was waiting for someone to serve mass for many years that the had promised a mass before he died which promise he did not carry out and that he got the option of celebrating it if he could get anyone to help him carry it out. Then he disappeared. The old woman raised an alarm and brought someone to her relief to open the door. She was ill for some time but recovered. She could ever afterwards serve mass with any of the best trained young boys in the Parish.

   I heard the tale from very many people including my grandmother Mrs Honora McGowan Aghamore.
