- A Tradition of a Holy Well

Three is a holy well a mile from where I live. It is situated in the town land of Drummons in the parish of Glenade in Co. Leitrim. There is an old graveyard about fifty yards south of it. This graveyard is called Connwell graveyard.There is the ruins of an old church or abbey in this graveyard but there is not much of it to be seen now. Long ago people used to make stations at this holy well.The way that the stations used to be made is first to gather fifteen pebbles and then go into the graveyard and make the station there. The people used to go round the wall inside three times saying five decades of the rosary each time.The prayers that used to be said at the well were fifteen decades of the rosary and after every decade the person used to drop a pebble.
When they had that done they used to go down to the well and say six our fathers and six hail marys to St Patrick and the same prayers to St Coner these prayers were said while kneeling at the well.
