Ar an leathanach seo
- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)stalks. They are then sprayed with blue-stone and washing soda to prevent blight. In Autumn the potatoes are dug out with a spade and thrown on the dug drills. The picker then comes along and picks the larger potatoes and this throws them in a pit while the small ones are put in another pit, those pits are covered with clay to keep out frost.
After a time they are taken out again and brought home to the barn. The Aran Banner is the best potato grown in this district. In former years starch was made from potatoes.
There are a good variety of potatoes grown here.
