    and out near the new cutting at Mick Dee's house. Four boats went out then to the rescue of the others, who were clinging on to the upturned boat. They took the men aboard, and righted the boat. They had a great job in towing the boat to the shore. About a week afterwards, the man mermaid was seen at the mouth of the river, and the people chased him in boats but he escaped them. The people say it was the mermaid's husband that came looking for her. They say she had a fine head of golden hair.
