  2. The Big Wind of '39 did so much damage that it will never be forgotten as the story goes from father to son. It blew the whole roof off Cloonturk Chapel and left the walls standing bare. Mass had to be celebrated in a fixture made up by the people until the chapel was repaired again. There was a family named Muldowney in Drumard and their house was nearly brought away altogether.
