  1. The Gobán Saor was building a magnificent castle. The gentleman, for whom he was building it, did not wish that the Gobán should build another castle as fine as it. In order that the mason might be left above, he had all the ladders removed. The Gobán's wife came on the scene.
    "Take off your sock. Loosen the thread and let it down to me", she said. He did what she instructed him to do. Then, she fastened the thread to a piece of rope. He secured the rope above and climbed down to the ground.
