  1. In olden times dances used to be held on the road, on Sunday afternoons during the Summer.
One of these open air dancing places was at the Spa well on the summit of Mount Mary.
Young people from all the surrounding districts used to attend there, and dance the old Irish dances, The Rinnce Fada and the Haymaker's Jig.
For several years the music was supplied by a piper named Corley who lived near Newforest, and he was paid a few coppers after each dance, different dancers paying on each occasion. This old piper was a fluent Irish speaker. He lived to be a great age, and used to pay an occasional visit to the district after the dancing had ceased.
Tras-scríofa ag duine dár meitheal tras-scríbhneoirí deonacha.
