- The care of the feet.Most of the people in former days wore no shoes or boots. Even now the majority of the children go bare-footed in Summer time. When people washed their feet at night, it was considered unlucky not to throw out the water, or if they did not throw it out, they put a coal in the water. Many people wore clogs in olden times. There were no corns or sore feet long ago caused by shoes which were too tight. There are no shoemakers in the district, only cobblers.
