- The farm and domestic animals we keep are, cows, horses, sheep, pigs, hens, ducks, geese and turkeys. We have no special names for the cows. When I drive the cows in or out to the field I say "How". I say the same to the calves and the cattle.
The stable into which we put the cows is called the cowhouse. There is a beam from one wall of the stable to the other and there are four chains attached to it. Each cow is tied round the neck with a chain. The space inside this beam is called the manger and we fill this manger with hay every night and morning for the cows.(continues on next page)- Collector
