potatoes are put into one pit and the small ones are put into another.
The kinds of potatoes we sow are, Kerrs Pink, Champions, Arran Banners, British Queens and Irish Queens. The potatoes which grow best and most plentiful are Kerrs Pinks.
Long ago potatoes were used instead of starch. The starch was made by slicing a raw potato into a saucepan of cold water. The potato was left steeping for half-an-hour. Then the potato and water were taken out of the saucepan and the starch remained in the bottom of the saucepan.
