Later this man had very bad luck and his neighbours told him that it was because he cut down the fairy tree.

   In the town of Malin in Co. Donegal there lived a woman who had three daughters. One of them was very lazy. The woman was very poor and the daughters said they would go out into the world and seek their fortune, but they did not want to take the lazy-one, but she went, and she took with her a small ball of wool. Soon they come to a river and they could not get across the river. The lazy one threw over the wool
