    Local place names
    Castlecooly got it's name from an old castle which was in it long ago and an old man lived in the castle called Cooley and after the old man's death the place got the name Castlecooley.
    Moness got it's name from a waterfall which was there long ago.
    Speenogue got it's name from gooseberries which grew there.
    Bohillion got it's name from a holly grove which was growing there long ago.
    Rockfield got its name from a field which was in the townland long ago and which was full of rocks
    Inch level got its name because it is situated near to Inch Island
