  2. About sixty years ago there was a man called "Sean ó [?]". He used visit the district of Mothel, Clonea and Rathgormack. He used to ride an ass and had a sugan saddle and a bridle on him. He called to the farmers places around for food. Oaten cake was the usual bread of those days. When he got a quarter of a cake of this bread he made a hole in it and put a sugan through it and tied it to his back.
    "Martin the Scallops" was another familiar figure in this district. He was a native
