One day Pat Caden was at a fair in Crossmolina .When the contractors heard of this they sent their men with carts to take away the headstones.On that day they were dressing a stone and it bust with blood when it was broke .
In the morning the stones that were taken away were left back in the same place in such a way that a person would think they weren't removed at all .
The stones were also covered with blood and it was thought that the blood would remain on them. There was also blood on the road from Caircín the name of the place from which the stones were brought to the bridge that was being built.
The local belief is that the fairies from some other district and the fairies that were in charge of the stones had a fight and that it was the cause of the blood on the road and on(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
