  1. Cures
    Ringworm
At the present time, there lives in Cloonfinish, a man, Mathew Dunne, who has the cure for Ringworm. The seventh son has a worm put into his hands when an infant: it appears he will then get the cure for this disease.
    The evil- King's evil
Mrs Stenson at present living n Tumgesh has a cure for King's evil, which I understand is a sore on the face, neck or sometimes other parts of the body. Her grandfather's grandfather went down to the north of Ireland in search of work. There he married a girl, who had a medal, which contained three drops of King James' blood (presumably James II); this medal was the medium of cure for the disease called the King's evil; the cure has passed on from one to another of the family since. It will only cure an Irishman. It cannot be sold, though the person who has the cure may take money for her trouble.
A bad case of King's evil, a man from Ballina, was cured last year by this woman, though his case had been given up by doctors beforehand. (The information here related was given me by Mary Henegan, grand-daughter of Mrs Stenson, and a pupil in my school.)
