  1. The houses now are much better than they were sixty years ago. The houses consisted of but two rooms a kitchen and room. The kitchen housed people, ass, cows, pigs, and hens. There was a loft over the cows where the hens rooster at night. The ass was tied at the back door, and the calf was tied to the leg of the table. If they were fortunate enough to have a pig he lived in the house with the people.
