  1. Long years ago, there lived an old woman in Ballaghadereen who was supposed to belong to the fairies.
    Each night they brought her away, and returned with her before daybreak. Often when a person in a house took suddenly ill this old woman was sent for, and if that person had anything to do with the fairies she would tell them so.
    Then it was said that the fairies used beat her for telling. Once a man took ill and the
