  1. Esker, a townland in this district got its name from the hills of sand which are very plentiful in it.
    On my grandfathers land is a field called Garry - bán, it is covered with large white stones from which it got its name.
    Portach bog is the name of a field near my house, it is so called because it is very soft and boggy.
    To the south of my house, on the lands of Mick Niland, of Ballyglass, is a fort called Lios an Uisce. It got its name from a large stone which is
