November's Night and its customs
One of the principal feast nights of the year which the children look forward to is November's night. On that night all sorts of games are played. There is feasting in every house on that night also.
Rings, sixpences, thimbles, needles and crosses are put in cakes.
The person that gets the ring will be married within a year.
The person that gets the sixpence will be rich for ever and ever.
The girl who gets the thimble will never marry and the boy who gets the needle will be (rich for) a tailor.
The girl who gets the cross will be(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
