- The following tale was told by Pat Keane, now deceased for some years, to Michael Moran (now 85) while visiting in the home of the former in his youth. The author said he heard it from his father, who lived for some time in the vicinity of the lake mentioned in the tale.
Very nearly smothered, with the villages of Burriss and Graffy quite close among the hills, about a mile east from Manulla village, Graffy lake is situated. People living near tell queer stories about it; this is what one old man said.
People say that it is as deep as the highest hill near it. One hill named "Bulagadán" - hil of desolation - has the image of a man on its summit, the image resembling a scare crow in the distance. Owing to this, the hill is known as the "Feár-Breige" scarecrow.
Between this lake and Ballyvara is a village named(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
