I spent most of summer holidays 1910 and 1911 in company with Willie Doyle, fine steady young man of most exemplary habits who had devoted all his spare time to the study of antiquities and folklore.
He was delighted to meet a kindred soul even in a much younger man.
Willie told me that about 60 years ago the remains of an enormous man were dug up beside Ardristan Pillar-Stone - the remains of a man over 8 foot high; and that the skull and bones fell into dust as soon as they were exposed to the air.
