  1. There are the ruins of an old church in this district. It is a short distance from the present church. When St. Patrick was building his church he - no animals except goats to carry the materials to the church. When the church was finished St. Patrick said, "Achadh Gobhare," which meant plain of the goats. That is the reason that this place is called Aughagower.
