  1. Hedge schools eyised in my distric. Each hedge school was in a town land. They were held in doors. Masters taught in these schools. The name of the teacher was Master Gibbons. He belonged to the district; he was from Doire Habna. School was carried on in the farmers houses. The teachers lodged in the houses. Every house that would have scholars going to school would pay the master. there (was) reading and writing and sums taught. There was no Irish
