  1. Very few marriages take place in this district now,but when they do take place they take place any time of the year. Long ago marriages used take place during Shrove, which the people call Seraft.
    Most of the marriages take place on Shrove Tuesday. They thought Wednesday lucky for getting married and matches were made mostly. Money, land, and stock was given as dowery.
