  1. The days before Christmas are called "Gearróga duba na Nodlag", as they are the darkest and the shortest days in the whole year.
    The people long ago were very poor and they had not as good a time as the people nowadays. There were no lorries in these times and it was on the horse and 'díabs' that the shopkeeper brought home the Christmas from the nearest town.
    There was very little flour in these times. One stone the people would get at
