  1. It is a old costom to kill a goose on St. Martins night in honour St Martins or if you have not a goose to kill any another sort of fowl will do as well. When you have the goose killed they say it is right to put some of her blood in the four corners of the house. Nine nights after November night the people has for killing the goose. It would not do to kill her on St. Martins night or on St. Martins day. St Martin will take nothing after him but all before him.
