  1. Mt. Shannon is situated on the shore of Lough Derg. In the months of May and August people come over from England fishing for trout. In the month of May they dap with May flies and in the month of August they dap with big spiders. They buy the flies from the young boys and they give them sixpence or a shilling per box.
