  1. Hurling is played in this district but football is not. Hurling is played in different ways, such as : - seven at a side or fifteen at a side. There does be two goal posts stuck down at each end of the field.If the ball goes out low between the two goal pots it is called a goal, but if it goes high, it is a point. Three points are then equall to a goal.
    There is a hurling team in Mt. Shannon the hurlers of Mt. Shannon when hurling wear togs coloured black and amber.
